1. Check your memory usage.  More computer now days are shipping with 3gig instead of 4gig.  If you only have 3gig, consider upgrading.

2. Did you install any new programs recently?  Some programs will install extra spam programs.  For instance my dsl software installed a couple games loaded with spam.

3. defrag.  Your hard disk can become very cluttered after years of use.  You might be amazed at your performance improvement.

4. Take a look at your startup folder.  You really don't need anything there.  If you need a program you can just run it when you need it.
