Counter Tops

Everyone has a kitchen and hopefully a bathroom. In those kitchens and bathrooms are counter tops, in Denver you may see some in the Garage. Growing up a counter top was a counter top although most were made of vinyl. You couldn't stick anything hot on it and it stained and warped and had to be replaced about every 7 years.

About 10 years ago stone counter tops started becoming popular. However they were very expensive to install. Granite was probably the most popular. It was very resistant to heat and stains could be sanded out easily. It also lasted forever, but again it was very expensive to install.

In the last few years a stone hybrid started becoming available. The hybrid is made up of a very durable plastic mixed in with stone, so you get some of the properties of stone, but the easy install of plastic and lower cost of materials. Because the plastic could be molded to any shape, the sink can now be integrated into one piece. I always hated getting food stuck between the sink the counter top. The disadvantage is that this new counter top is easily scratched. I have to buff out our every few years. It also tends to loose its shine very quickly. I would still recommend it over the more expensive options.
