Local Map Optimization

There is a fairly new service called Local Map Optimization available for local customers with or without a retail location. Boostability provides this service for local businesses.

I was traveling to Las Vegas last fall for my wedding anniversary. Once we got there we were pretty hungry and wanted to find something inexpensive and away from the strip. I am an early adopter of the iphone and constantly checking email, texting someone, checking the stock market, weather, playing a game, etc. So I pulled out my handy iphone and opened up the maps and typed in the search term "food". Out spit a lot of local locations for restaurants. How much would a business pay to be the one the shows up first. I even used the Google voice while out with my wife last weekend. Which then displayed the Google maps listings.

How about now when doing a search on Google, if the keyword is localized then it will show in the maps 7 pack. How many people actually click on the more button and scroll through the list? My guess is not many, most will call someone on the first page displayed to them. How important is it for business to show up there using Local Search Marketing?

Now how about you open the phone book to find an exterminator. Can't find the book? Do you remember the last time you opened one? This is typical for most consumers. 82% of consumers will look on the internet for products or services before they open the phone book. I can't live without using my laptop or phone to search for products and services.

A fairly new technology company called Boostability released their maps product earlier in the year. They understand how important it is for business to be listed on the map section of the search engines. They employ techniques such as claiming the map listing, optimizing the listing and generating citations for the business that will rank them in top spots on the map section.

Getting reviews from your customers is also important. They help you take reviews and get them out there so you are noticed. Local Map Optimization is what every local business needs.
