polaris rzr rollover

So after owning this side by side for exactly 1 year I finally tipped it over.  The end result is the 2 passengers (yes 6 year old and other 5 year old fit in the passanger seat perfectly) and fared without even a scratch or bruise.

I ended up with a few bruises.  My knee hit the steering wheel adjustment knob on the side and my other leg hit the gear shifter.  Other than dangling from my seat belt for a while, no other personal injury.

The rollbar protected all occupants and the net on the Polaris Rzr kept everyone in.  The first thing I had to check was to make sure nobody stuck their leg or arm out to stop the tip.  After I made sure everyone was safe I could then laugh.  Until I crawled out and checked the damage.

The rzr didn't do as well.  A support bar puched through the body on the side, Some of the side panels were cracked.  I haven't assessed the cost to fix everything yet, but I estimate $500-$1000.  It was a very low speed tip that caused all that damage.

What happened?  It was a drizzely morning heading up the canyon.  For it being June, we passed snow, it was still chilly.  The group I was riding with parked in a clearing.  I decided to try a few donutes.  I've done it lots of times, but not when the dirt was a little wet.  I begin the turn and couldn't get the tires to loose traction, so I punched it.  The tires stayed grip and over we went.  For having a Mechanical Engineering degree I should have realized the difference in dry and wet dirt.

Glad you made it out safe. The Polaris RZR doesn't seem to be as bad as the Yamaha Rhino with rollovers. Probably due to lower center of gravity and more stable suspension.
